Branding: The Salvage Room

January 31, 2013

I’ve been giddy with excitement for four of my best friends (and neighbors) who signed the lease on a new space in The Plaza District, an up & coming OKC neighborhood with an awesome walkable retail community. Their new shop is going to be called, THE SALVAGE ROOM, and they offer this description (in their words), ” We are cultivators and curators of everything classic to arcane, offering the service of procuring and creating items that would otherwise take a lifetime of searching for.  A one-stop shop, where you will find the finest hand-selected vintage items, unique handcrafted pieces, new & vintage decor & apparel, accessories & one of a kind furnishings not currently offered in the Oklahoma City area.”

So, when they came to me for help with branding, I jumped at the chance to brand my first Plaza District business. My friends are amazing and talented, and also a bit dark & quirky so I knew that we’d have to pick some inspirations that spoke to their aesthetic, but that would also stand out in the Plaza. inspiration

Inspiration Sources: Beetle Wings, Moth Engravings, Emerald Green, Ralph Steadman, Vintage Type

We had a short timeline, so I took the entire project from pinboard to sketchbook to brandmark in about 24 hours. Luckily, Aimee, Adam, Kelsi, & Rachael were crazy about the first round of designs, and with a couple tweaks, it was ready for use in their website & social networks.

cardsAfter signing the lease Tuesday, they have already started building out the space and preparing for their soft launch on February 8th, 2013. I’m also excited to share that they’ve asked me to show a few of paintings & calendars in the shop, so I’ll be bringing down some of my latest works for the soft launch at Live on the Plaza!

Be sure to check out their site and follow them on Twitter for updates. For more on branding & website development, contact CooperHouse, and ask for Erin. ;)

Thanks Marek — I loved seeing you too. Every time we get to hang out, I always turn to Rachael and say, “MAREK!” and she’s like, “I know, right? So fun.” And then we shake our heads in amazement. Friend date please, soon!
